From the introduction...
This collection of fact sheets is a product of the close working relationship between the staff of Blind Babies Foundation and professionals within the medical community. Designed to meet the needs of families and professionals eager for information on a specific visual diagnosis, each fact sheet was developed in collaboration with parents, the professional staff of the Off To A Good Start Program, and medical and education specialists who reviewed current literature and identified the most important facts about each diagnosis. Each fact sheet serves as a first step for families in the information gathering process.
A child’s visual diagnosis provides significant clues about the amount of vision a child has and the conditions that support optimum vision use in the day to day world. Although facts about a specific diagnosis will be informative, each child’s response to his vision loss will be unique, with learning style, motivation, and physical strengths and challenges taken into consideration.
